Grundtvig Partnerships: Putting the ‘tea’ in community!

People are starting to survey the damage after the recent turbulent events in some of Britain’s major cities. And like many, I’ve been wondering how we can go about fixing the underlying problems facing our communities.
So I was inspired to hear about one organisation, Actively Promoting Spilsby’s Environment (APSE) in Lincolnshire which is already working hard to tackle problems in their local community by developing partnerships between parents, schools, police services and local businesses. Their Grundtvig Partnership ‘Starting with Families’ has been looking at ways to deliver effective parenting training to help build safer, more inclusive communities, with partners from France, Spain and Greece. Last few spaces available at our 2011 UK Information Days

Our first event in Birmingham has already taken place and spaces at our remaining events are disappearing fast. This morning I pulled off the numbers for you to see:

Alas, as the table shows, Manchester and London are full. You can add your name to the reserve list but there are already many people waiting for spaces so chances of obtaining a ticket in this way are slim.
The good news is there are still 26 spaces at Cardiff, 13 spaces at Belfast and 24 spaces at Edinburgh. If you can feasibly get to any of these events I strongly advise you to put your name down now, because these tickets will go fast over the next seven to ten days.
Don’t chance it on the wait list – register for an event that is still open: If you joined the London wait list after 20 June or to the Manchester wait list after 19 July it means there are more than 10 people ahead of you in the queue for spaces so please register for an alternative event if you possibly can. It would be a real shame for you to miss out. Those of you closer to the front of the line may want to consider your options as we are seeing fewer cancellations this year.
Youth on the Move

Youth unemployment levels across Europe are rising and making it difficult for young people to get their first step on the career ladder. Youth on the Move aims to address this issue and increase youth employment. Read the rest of this entry »
The experience of a Transversal UK Host: Every Child Matters

It is an opportunity for UK hosts to present their work and best practice for European visitors to take back and implement in their own local area.
Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School is one of the UK organisations who hosted a Transversal Study Visit in 2010. The Study Visit centred on the theme of ‘Every Child Matters’ which is at the centre of planning and delivery for schools and institutions in Lincoln, and the UK as a whole.
